Citizens Bank Park, Spaghetti Warehouse, Camden Aquarium - Tuesday, March 24th Join us for a bus trip to Citizens Bank Park for a 90 minute behind-the-scenes tour of our World Series Champs', the Phillies, home stadium. Following the tour we will go to the Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch (included). The final stop will be the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. Our Perkiomen Tours bus will be departing from the Lansdale Branch at 8:30am. We will depart for our return trip at 4:00pm. The cost for the trip is $66 for full members and $71 for program and community members. Sign up at the membership desk of our LaCrest Health Center, Lansdale and Indian Valley branches. Healthy Kids Day - Saturday, April 18th from 11-3pm Join us at our Lansdale and Indian Valley branches for this free community event. There will be fun games and activities for children, healthy food and snacks, unique booths that promote health, well-being and safety; plus, an opportunity to learn more about YMCA year-round programs and summer camp. You can meet our camp staff, pick up a registration packet and take advantage of a $25 off coupon for one camp session, if you sign your child up early.
Indian Valley Branch Free seminar presented by Merck & Co., Inc. - "Journey for Control: Learn to control your lifestyle to manage your diabetes." on Monday, March 9th at 10:00AM Participants will learn about lifestyle modifications that can lead to improved self management, understand how blood glucose changes during the day and the importance of monitoring your glucose, and learn about a healthcare team and engaging a support network. Contact Alicia Fergus at 215 723-3569, ext. 118 for details or to reserve a seat. 4th Annual Family Fit Fest Fundraiser - Saturday, March 14 from 9AM-12PM Join us for food, shopping, children's activities, group exercise classes and entertainment. Workouts for all ages and all levels will be taught by our experienced staff, featuring our most popular classes and a few surprises. The gym will house a sampling of our programs and classes. This year we will have the Fox Chase Mammography Unit for free Mammography's. Zumiez will be showcasing a skateboarding demo for teens. Local mascots will make appearances. Tickets are available now. Spots are still open for health and wellness vendors, and sponsors. All proceeds benefit the group exercise department and programs. Advanced tickets: $10 per person $20 per family Day of the event: $15 per person $25 per family Jr. NBA/WNBA National Basketball Skills Challenge - Sun, February 15 at 5:00PM Youth ages 7-14 are judged on shooting, passing and dribbling and may win a chance to compete at regional and national events. Wellness Expo for Cancer Control Month - Tuesday, April 7th from 9AM-12PM Join us for this free Wellness Expo to celebrate and learn more about cancer control, treatment and support, as well as many other aspects of adult health and wellness. We will have demonstrations, speakers and fitness assessments, along with local vendors specializing in adult activities and interests. Summer Camp Open House - Friday, February 27 from 6:30-8:30PM Families will have the opportunity to meet camp staff, register early, learn about all of our great field trips, and enjoy an ice cream social! Register early, get the camp of your choice, and receive a $25 camp coupon to be used for any camp week tuition during the 2009 camp season! The inclement weather date is Monday, March 2, 2009. 5th Annual Indian Valley "Tri Kids" Youth Triathlon - Sunday, April 26th Children compete in a Top Tier Triathlon start to finish. Four age categories. Awards and prizes will go to the top three male and female in each category. All participants must have a bike helmet and their own bike to participate. The "Tri Kids" race is part of the Escape from School Youth Series run by Piranha Sports. Registration is handled online at www.piranha-sports.com. This race follows the "age up" rule for triathletes. Please see the web site for details. Alligator Nights - Fridays, Feb 20, March 20 and April 17 from 7-9:00PM Join us for a fun family swim and enjoy floating around in the pool with our inflatable alligator. The fee is $5 for a full member family and $10 for a program member family.
LaCrest Health Center 4th Annual Bench Press & Dead Lift Competition - Sun, May 3 from 9AM-1:00PM Our bench press and dead lift competition is open to all amateur men and women from 15 - 70+ years of age. Each participant will be divided into the appropriate age group and weight class. The bench press and dead lift competitions will be limited to the first 50 registrants per event - sign up early! This fun filled family event will kick off the 32nd annual Lansdale Day presented by the North Penn Rotary. Our 3.1 mile course begins on Green Street, winds through town and Whites Road Park and finishes up on Susquehanna Avenue. Bring your family, bring your friends and walk, jog or run your way to fun! T-shirts to all participants. Trophies to the top male and female finisher. Medals to the first three male and female finishers in 11 divisions.
