POSITION TITLE: Member Services Associate
Part-Time – $12 starting rate
SUPERVISOR: Member Services Director
GENERAL FUNCTION: The Membership Service Associate is responsible for providing information, including but not limited to membership, programs and services and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the Welcome Center. This position may involve early morning, evening and weekend responsibilities.
This job is performed to standard when all work is completed accurately and on time, with minimal supervision.
Maximum hours weekly: 28
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires high school diploma, or equivalent with working papers as required
- Previous customer service, sales or related experience preferred
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
- Effective Communication; written, oral and through presentations
- Must have strong collaborative work ethic
- Ability to operate standard office/membership desk equipment
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer telephones and take messages as necessary
- Ability to process, understand and respond appropriately to emergency situations
- Provide the utmost in customer service by remaining knowledgeable in all programs, initiatives and events
- Lead facility tours, provide current membership information, and process registrations according to established procedures
- Process all transactions utilizing the Core system. This includes, but is not limited to, class registration, running rosters, program refunds and credits
- Assist in Special events as needed
- Handle and resolve membership complaints; inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues
- Operate card maker system, camera, cash register, fax machine, copier, telephone and perform routing filing
- Monitor membership cards and members’ use of facilities
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Ensure that all membership paperwork is processed accurately and in timely fashion
- Perform any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the North Penn YMCA
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform the following physical activities adequately: standing, sitting, squatting, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling
- Ability to function under inside environmental conditions
- Ability to lift or carry up to fifteen (15) pounds
- Ability to perform the following sensory and communicative activities adequately: hearing and seeing; reading, writing, speaking English fluently; bi-lingual, a plus
