Adult Stay & Play Caregiver – Part-Time – $12 starting rate
SUPERVISOR: Stay & Play Coordinator
GENERAL FUNCTION: The Stay & Play Caregiver is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing environment for the children of those utilizing our facility.
This position may involve early morning, evening and weekend responsibilities.
This job is performed to standard when all work is completed accurately and on time, with minimal supervision. Maximum hours weekly: 20
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years or older
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Effective Communication; written and oral with strong customer service skills
- Must have strong collaborative work ethic
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
- Proficient computer skills (ie: internet, email, word processing, graphics, multi-media, spreadsheet, and databases)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets each child and parent daily; communicates often and professionally with families, children and staff
- Assists in preparing play area for children daily by arranging and maintaining a safe and age appropriate learning environment; keeps playroom space clean and organized; maintains playroom supplies and equipment
- Supervise the children, stay & play room, and all activities
- Ability to process, understand and respond appropriately to emergency situations
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards
- Must maintain harmonious relations with all outreach facilities/sites
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed (i.e. participation in branch-wide activities and events as a team leader)
- Perform any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the North Penn YMCA
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform adequately the physical activities as related to job responsibilities and ensuring the safety of the children and staff
- Ability to function under inside and outside environmental conditions
- Ability to lift or carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds; Ability to handle up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to perform the following sensory and communicative activities adequately: hearing and seeing; reading, writing, speaking English fluently.
