Annual Family Gathering - Friday, Dec 2 at 7PM
Welcome in the Holidays! Join us for this annual event. We'll have music, refreshments, and a visit with Santa.

Indian Valley Branch

Sports Winter Open House - Saturday, Jan 7 from 9AM to 1PM
The Sports Department is holding an open house on Saturday, January 7. We will be offering 30-60 minute sessions of our most popular sports programs for ages 1 to 15 years old. The program line-up includes Basketball, Volleyball, Dodgeball, Kinder Sports and Creative Dance. This event is free and is open to all members of the community. Come on out and see what our programs are all about!

2nd Hand Book Sale - January 16 to Sunday, January 22
Our ever popular used book sale is back. Paperbacks are fifty cents and hard covers are a $1. Please donate all of your lightly used items January 8 - 21. We accept donations of used books and DVDs. Donations to the Y are tax deductible. Please ask for a receipt at the front desk. Please, no magazines, videos, Reader's Digest or encyclopedias. All items should be clean and free of mold. Kids Fun Night at the Y - Fridays, Jan 13 and Feb 10 from 5:30-8:30PM
Bring your children, ages 2-12 to our YMCA for a fun-filled night. This night will include a pizza party, swimming arts and crafts and various sports activities in our gym. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Please note that the swim time is for ages 4-12 only. Kids Fun Night will be offered the 2nd Friday of each month from October-June. Please register on-line or at our membership desk.

Fees are: full member - $15, program member - $20 and non member - $25.

Alligator Nights - Fridays, Jan 20 and Feb 17 from 7-9PM
Join us for a fun family swim with our inflatable alligator while floating around in the pool. You must be a member of the Y to attend this event.

Free Seminar - "Alzheimer's: Know the Signs - Early Detection Matters" - Thurs, Jan 26 at 9:30AM
Join us for an informative discussion on the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. This seminar will be presented by Julie Thomas, RN BA/Early Stage and Advocacy Coordinator for the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. This presentation is free for all Y members. Free Seminar - "The Heart and Aging" - Wednesday, Feb 8 at 9AM

Patricia Anasiewicz, RN, MSN, Community Health Outreach Nurse from Abington Lansdale Hospital will visit the Indian Valley branch to talk about "The Heart and Aging". Come and learn about how aging affects the heart and blood vessels, what can be done to offset the changes, and how to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The Indian Valley Character Counts! Coalition

The Indian Valley Character Counts! Coalition is a group of local business, educational and organizational leaders working together to build a community where all citizen's embrace the principle that Character Counts! and where youth stay healthy, safe and drug free. The Coalition holds and participates in community activities throughout the year including National Character Counts! Week. The Caring Community Fair and A Community Day of Service (in cooperation with the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Souderton Area School District). Please consider joining our group to hear what we are doing in our community. Meetings for the 2011-2012 school years are scheduled as follows:

January 12           April 12
February 9           May 10
March 8               June 14

All meetings will be held at the Souderton Area School District Office and will begin at noon on the second Thursday of each month (unless listed differently). LaCrest Health Center

OPEN HOUSE - Sunday, Jan 1 from 9AM to 1PM

HAPPY NEW YEAR! The community is invited to use the LaCrest Health Center and take Yoga, Indoor Cycling, Body Pump and Body Combat for FREE January 1, 2012. The facility can be used by those 16 and up or 13 and up if accompanied by a parent. Enjoy the cardio and strength equipment as well as the pool. Anyone wanting to jump start health and fitness resolutions can join LaCrest as a full member on that day and receive a FREE MONTH of membership. Current full members of LaCrest are encouraged to bring a friend. If the friend joins as a full member during the open house, both the current member and the friend will receive a free month as well. Intergenerational Valentines Tea - Friday, Feb 10 at 1:30PM

FREE Blood Pressure Screenings - Tuesdays, Jan 17 and Feb 21 from 9:30-11:30AM
High blood pressure often goes undetected until a health crisis occurs. Unrecognized and untreated, high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack or kidney failure. Once detected, high blood pressure can be controlled with diet, exercise and/or medication. Keep a check on your blood pressure to help reduce your health risks. The North Penn Visiting Nurse Association offers Free Blood Pressure Screenings from 9:30am-11:30am the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the LaCrest Health Center.


Lansdale Branch
Kids Night Out - Friday, Jan 13 and Feb 10 from 6-9:00PM
Drop your children off at the North Penn YMCA's Lansdale Branch for a kid's night out filled with fun games in the gym, swimming in the pool, and a pizza party. You do not have to be a Y member to participate in the fun. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Plan on joining us the second Friday night of every month. Children ages 5-12 are welcome.

Fees are: full member - $15, program member - $20 and non member - $25.
