Lansdale Expansion Project

Construction is underway at our Lansdale Branch as we move forward with a major expansion. This project includes a new high school sized gymnasium, an expanded wellness center and two new program studios. The expansion is expected to take about a year, with a grand opening planned for April 2026.

The projected grand opening for the new gym, expanded wellness center and program studios is January 2026.

We expect to offer the traditional sports of basketball, volleyball, badminton along with pickleball and community events.

At this point, our plans call for three to four courts depending on the final gym dimensions.

We are reviewing our equipment needs and what our members would like us to add.

We have not decided on specific programs but will release information on this during the year. Continue to visit our website for updates.

During construction, we will no longer have parking available on the shopping center side of the Y. However, we expect that we will still have enough parking to accommodate our members, staff, and volunteers.

In February, we will build a new exit in the free-weight area to accommodate construction. We expect that project to last only a few weeks and impact a very small area. Otherwise, we expect very few, if any interruptions to equipment access.

Thanks to the efforts of PA Representative Steve Malagari and Senator Maria Collett, we were awarded a $2.5 million state RCAP Grant. Other funds came from an anonymous donor ($1 million), estate gift ($500,000) and previous year’s operating surpluses.

The financial plan for the Lansdale expansion project is not dependent on membership fees. If the costs of staff, utilities, insurance and other expenses rise above our revenue, then a rate increase is possible. As a non-profit, we re-invest all of our operating budget surpluses back into the Y for new equipment, infrastructure Improvements and other capital projects to benefit our members and community.

Because of the overall size of the gymnasium we are permitted to build, it is not feasible to have an elevated track. We are adding two mezzanine areas that will offer new exercise options to give you more flexibility with your workout routine.
