Lee was nearly 80 years old when she set out to accomplish a six-day rafting journey through the Grand Canyon. “I could not have accomplished this trip without the Lansdale YMCA and my personal trainer, Theresa,” says Lee.
For years, Lee has been showing up, working hard, and investing in her health with personal training sessions at our Lansdale Area Family YMCA. With her trainer Theresa’s guidance, she built the strength and endurance needed to take on an amazing adventure with Western River Expeditions.
Their Grand Canyon whitewater rafting trip is a challenging multi-day journey along the Colorado River, and Lee was ready for it. On the trip, Lee and her group traveled 188 miles by raft through the canyon, stopping to hike rugged terrain, explore waterfalls, share meals, and sleep under the stars in open-air camps. She faced challenging conditions, long days, and the physical demands of both rafting and hiking, but her preparation and the friends she made along the way helped her complete this bucket list trip. Lee’s remarkable journey is a powerful reminder that with consistency, support, and belief in yourself, goals of any size and at any age can be reached.
