(Posted May 5, 2015) Construction on North Penn Commons has started as construction vehicles arrive and the process of converting the site of the former LansBowl begins. We will continue to keep you updated on any construction news that may impact your visit to our Y.
Renovation is already underway within our Lansdale Area Family YMCA. Improvements will include: a new multipurpose/lap pool, new locker room facilities, a new entrance and member services area, as well as the renovation of an existing lap pool into a zero entry family pool.
When in our Lansdale Area Family YMCA, be sure to visit the NEW corridor outside the Deming Pool leading into our Wellness Center for a preview of our planned improvements and overall project!
We anticipate that all renovations and new construction will be complete by Spring 2016.

About North Penn Commons
North Penn Commons is a partnership among the Y, Advanced Living Communities, Manna on Main Street, and The PEAK Center. The new shared campus on the former LansBowl site will feature 60 units of affordable senior housing. The PEAK Center and Manna on Main Street will relocate their programs and services to North Penn Commons, while a public space will link the new four-story facility to our Y.
North Penn Commons Breaks Ground
On June 10, 2014, more than 100 guests including community leaders, elected officials, volunteers, staff, and supporters joined the founding partners of North Penn Commons – Advanced Living Communities, Manna on Main Street, The PEAK Center, and North Penn YMCA – for the official groundbreaking of the new shared campus. North Penn Commons is expected to open in the Spring of 2016.
Among those in attendance for the ceremony were Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, Josh Shapiro and Leslie Richards, Lansdale Borough Manager, Timi Kirchner, Lansdale Mayor, Andy Szekely, Kathy Phifer, Executive Director of Montgomery County Housing & Community Development, and Barbara Stephens, Public Affairs Officer of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
One Four All Campaign
The One Four All Campaign is the capital campaign to raise money for the North Penn Commons project which includes renovations and expansion of our YMCA. To date, over $3.7 million has been raised to support this pioneering project. The financial commitments that make up this $3.7 million were made over the past 24 months during the “quiet phase” of the capital campaign and come from members of the boards and CEOs of the four partner organizations, local businesses, and several foundations.
The goal of the One For All Campaign is $5 million. We are well on our way to meeting this goal. With construction now underway, the capital campaign will soon move into the “public phase” where our entire community will have the opportunity to financially support North Penn Commons. Please stay tuned for more information about how you can be a part of establishing this first-of-its-kind campus in our community.
