Y Story – Seungeun Oh

May 17, 2018

Swim lessons are beneficial and important at any age! It is never too late to learn this life-saving, necessary skill.

Member Seungeun Oh has been taking swimming lessons from Julie for over a year and shared her story.

“I’ve always thought about learning to swim but never tried to find a teacher or register for a class until I realized I couldn’t help my daughter ride a dolphin during summer vacation. My husband used to be the one in the water with my kids but that summer he couldn’t make it. I then realized I needed to know how to swim.

Since beginning lessons, my skills have improved greatly with Julie’s help. I try to come to the lessons once a week and she is always very patient with me. As time went by I saw my skills starting to improve. Julie is the best coach, she always encourages me. I can tell she knows when I start to get tired or when I get frustrated before I even tell her. I guess she can read my mind (or body language)?

My mom also took some lessons from Julie. My mom knew how to swim but she was only able to swim in shallow water. If she couldn’t touch the floor she would panic. After taking lessons with Julie she can now swim in the lap pool without stopping.

My mom will be 70 this year. She was so happy that she overcame that fear in her life. As for me, my ultimate goal was to not be afraid of going in the deep water with my daughter. Now I know that I can swim in the deep end and will not hesitate to go on a dolphin ride anymore.

Thank you to Julie from the both of us!”
