Ann Leslie, Youth Fitness/Family Coordinator
Indian Valley branch shares her Y story…
I want to make a difference in the lives of kids right here at our Y. Most of my youth was spent at the YMCA at swim team practices and strength and conditioning classes. Now as a coach and instructor at the Y, I have the opportunity to pay it forward.
I have been an athlete most of my life, and a lot of that time was spent swimming. I competed all through high school and college. After college I began participating in triathlon and running events. I know how to have fun and I know what it takes to compete.
As a proud mom of three boys, I am a big advocate for kid’s sports and fitness. It builds not only healthier bodies but also healthier minds, improves self-esteem, and teaches listening and cooperative skills. It can also teach kids how to win and lose with dignity and how to have good sportsmanship. These are important characteristics needed for kids to grow into healthy adults.
My goal is to add to and improve kids programs here at our Y and assist staff and volunteers to become the best teachers, motivators and humanitarians as possible.
